17th May - UBI Banca best sustainable bank of the year
UBI Banca is the best sustainable bank of the year. This accolade was awarded by OF - Osservatorio Finanziario (financial observatory) a Milan research institute which has compared and monitored Italian home and mobile products and services delivered by the Italian banking industry since 2001 and which has announced a new banking index based on over 500 points of observation.
“The UBI Banca Group”, it says in the reasons for awarding the prize, “has known how to organise and communicate the values of solidarity and sustainability in an extremely innovative way in a difficult market, that of financial investment, and at the same time it has supported the Third Sector with products that are conventional, but have been redesigned innovatively such as social bonds. And it has continued to invest in this area even in a period when little attention is being paid sustainable investment”.
25th August - Earthquake emergency, Banca Popolare di Ancona initiatives
UBI Banca Popolare di Ancona has allocated a budget of €10 million to support individuals and businesses that have suffered damage caused by the earthquake in the provinces of Ascoli, Fermo and Macerata.
The Bank will fast track all procedures for the grant of loans and the processing of possible moratorium requests on repayments for those who have mortgages and medium to long-term loans.
19th May - UBI Banca receives prizes at Milano Finanza 2016 Global Awards
The 2016 edition of the “Milano Finanza Global Awards”, the most important awards ceremony on the Italian banking and financial scene, was held yesterday at the Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, organised by Class Editori.
The event gives recognition to companies that have achieved the best capital performance and efficiency and those players who have excelled either with extraordinary operations or constantly good results.
The UBI Banca Group received two accolades during the evening of the award ceremony:
- the Guido Carli/Lombard Prize, awarded to UBI Banca for projects to enhance human resources, collected by Mario Napoli, the head of Group Human Resources;
- the “Creators of Value”, Best Bank in the Region of Lombardy Prize, awarded to Banca Popolare di Bergamo for an MF Index of greater than seven. Silvano Manella, the Deputy General Manager, collected the prize.

21rst April - Forum ETHIBEL reconfirms UBI Banca in the Ethibel Sustainability Index
UBI Banca has been reconfirmed as a constituent of the Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe since 15/04/2016.
Forum ETHIBEL is a Belgian independent association, created in 1991 and recognized as an expert in rating, independent audits and certification of products and services that meet ESG and ethical standards (www.forumethibel.org). Forum ETHIBEL aims for a business model, that respects the balance between economic progress, social fairness and gives due attention to the environment.
In composing the Ethibel Pioneer and Excellence Investment Registers Forum ETHIBEL selects companies playing a pioneering or leading role in their sector in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
29th February – Banca Popolare di Bergamo is organising the project ART UP
Banca Popolare di Bergamo, a bank belonging to the UBI Banca Group, is organising the project ART UP , a cultural initiative to display its artistic heritage.
Each month a different work of art from the bank’s art collection will be on display to the public in the entrance of its central branch at 8 Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Bergamo. The works of art will be explained to the public with special illustrated sheets with the art history and criticism (collectors’ articles). The project ART UP puts works of art on display that are normally “inaccessible” because they are located in offices, branches and the strong rooms of the bank.
15th February – UBI Banca certified “Top Employer in Italy” in 2016
For the second consecutive year UBI Banca is one of the Italian companies recognised as a “Top Employer 2016” by the Top Employers Institute, which has been assessing companies throughout the world since 1991 on the basis of the working conditions of their employees in terms of training, development of talent, career paths and benefits.
Each year the Top Employers Institute awards the status of “Top Employer” on conclusion of a survey which certifies the best companies in the world in the sphere of HR on the basis of carefully defined and measurable parameters.
This qualification is conferred on the basis of the standard of the working conditions in a company, the training delivered, the development of talent at all company levels and the improvement in best practices in the field of human resources.

23rd December - Prestitalia: the distribution network is growing
The UBI Group’s finance company that specialises in salary backed loans has expanded its distribution network in 2015 as it intensifies its geographical coverage.
In line with business plan objectives, growth in the number of people working in the salary backed loan sector can be summarised as follows:
- a new network has been launched, which currently has 16 “light” agents working for UBI only who support the banking agencies of the UBI Group. This number will be more than doubled by the end of 2016 to reach around 40 and they will each have their own area covering 12-15 branches, with the goal of achieving grants of €75 million, of which approximately €50 million originated directly by the branches;
- seven new conventional agents have been appointed and today a total of 53 operating outlets exist in most regions of Italy;
- 16 bank employees have been selected and trained, specialising in salary backed loans and operating in branches, specifically to satisfy the requirements of customers interested in this type of product.

19th October – Finals of the eighth edition of the school competition “Che Impresa ragazzi!” (“What a business kids!”)
On 16th October, class 2 A of the Istituto V. Capirola of Leno, supported by UBI Banco di Brescia, won the title of best business project at national level in Rome at the Italian Banking Association. The project was submitted in the “Che Impresa Ragazzi” competition organised by the Fondazione per L’Educazione Finanziaria e al Risparmio (foundation for financial education and saving). The pupils of this school in Brescia submitted the project “Freccia verde (coltiviamo il Future)” (Green Arrow – we cultivate the future) on processes designed to recover urban spaces, that help improve environmental sustainability, with the emphasis on biological agriculture with “zero kilometre” production.
21st September – A Banca Popolare di Bergamo social bond to support the Opera Bonomelli Onlus Association
Banca Popolare di Bergamo issues a €5 million social bond, offered from 21st September until 22nd October 2015. A sum equal to 0.5% of the amount placed will be donated to the association to implement a “Home-Work” project for the rehabilitation of persons in difficulty to be carried out in Bergamo over the next few months.
6th AUGUST - Banca Popolare di Bergamo 2015 first half results
The 2015 first half results for Banca Popolare di Bergamo have been published: a profit of €84 million (down €7 million compared with the first half of 2014; up €31 million compared with result for the second half of 2014). The bank provided substantial support to the local economy, with lending to customers (€19.1 billion) up two percentage points compared with December 2014. Strong growth was recorded (+62%), at €1,574 million, in new medium to long-term loans granted.
6th AUGUST - Banca di Valle Camonica 2015 first half results
The 2015 first half results for Banca di Valle Camonica have been published: a profit of €4.01 million compared with €2.89 million in the first half of 2014 (+38.7%). Net new customers acquired numbered 500 in the first half, which brought the total customer base up to 78,270.
5th AUGUST - Banca Popolare Commercio e Industria 2015 first half results
The 2015 first half results for Banca Popolare Commercio e Industria have been published: a profit of €22.7 million (down €7.6 million compared with the first half of 2014). Total lending stood at €8.8 billion (up 3.3% compared with June 2014). Medium to long-term loans granted grew by 45% from €470 million to 30/06/2014 to €683 million to 30/06/2015.
5th AUGUST - Banca Popolare di Ancona 2015 first half results
The 2015 first half results for Banca Popolare di Ancona have been published: a profit of €13 million (up €12 million compared with the first half of 2014). Funding and lending were unchanged compared with the same period in 2014.
4th AUGUST - Banco di Brescia 2015 first half results
The 2015 first half results for Banco di Brescia have been published: a profit of €10.2 million (down €20.6 million compared with the first half of 2014, up €1.2 million compared with the second half of 2014). Loans stood at €12.6 billion, the same as at the end of 2014.
3rd AUGUST - Banca Regionale Europea 2015 first half results
The 2015 first half results for Banca Regionale Europea have been published: a profit of €11.6 million, unchanged compared with the first half of 2014. Normalised profit came to €11.5 million (down 25.7% compared with the same period in 2014). Gross loans to customers stood at €8.8 billion (up 0.5% on December 2014).
16th JULY - Banco di Brescia finances reconstruction work in communities in the Veneto region hit by a tornado
UBI Banco di Brescia has created a new €5 million loan pool for people hit by a tornado which caused casualties and damage to homes and firms along the Brenta River and in the Miranese area. No processing fees will be charged on the loans and they will be normally for a maximum amount of €100,000.00, with a maximum life of up to 48 months and fixed interest of 1.00%.
22nd JUNE– UBI Banca invests in online sponsorship of the “Mille Miglia” motor race
UBI Banca celebrated the historical Mille Miglia event, sponsored through Banco di Brescia, and for the occasion presented its own Instagram @ubibanca profile and a special e-book containing the best shots of around 1,400 photos published with the hashtag #UBI1000.
5th MAY – Launch of the third edition of the competition on economics seen by children “Stories of value”
Banca Regionale Europea and Fondazione per l’Educazione Finanziaria e al Risparmio (the foundation for financial education and savings) reward the best stories told by around 400 pupils in secondary schools in Genoa, Alassio and La Spezia, who followed the programme “Economic footprint junior” as part of a project for the diffusion of economic citizenship in schools in Liguria.
9th MAY – Bancavalle, Social Bond contributes to the purchase of an ambulance
Banca di Valle Camonica announces the issue of a social bond for €5 million. 0.50% of the nominal amount placed will be donated to the Vallecamonica-Sebino local health authority for the purchase of a fully fitted-out ambulance for the Esine Hospital. The placement will take place between 11th May and 30th June 2015.
30th APRIL - UBI Banca supports the Camuno Prehistoric Studies Centre at Expo Milano 2015
UBI Banca, together with its network bank Banca di Valle Camonica, is one of the supporters of the Camuno Prehistoric Studies Centre at Capo di Ponte which will decorate the Expo Milan 2015 Pavilion A0 “Feeding the planet” with dozens of scenes of hunting, agriculture, animal raising and collective rituals connected with the production and search for food in Camuno stone age art.
21st APRIL – Banca Popolare di Bergamo contributes to Donizetti Theatre refurbish
The Board of Directors of the Banca Popolare di Bergamo passed a resolution yesterday to make a contribution of €2 million to a project to refurbish the Donizetti Theatre, by means of important modernisation work due for completion by the end of 2017.
28th MARCH - Banca Popolare di Ancona organises a series of musical evenings at the theatre
BPA has organised a musical evening at the Aquila Di Fermo Theatre entitled “Protestar Cantando, Canzoni e Canzonette”, a “Musiculture” production offered to six hundred customers invited to the event. The Chairman Corrado Mariotti and the General Manager Nunzio Tartaglia attended the evening.
17th MARCH - Banco di Brescia and financial education for children
In the afternoon of Monday 23rd March 2015 two workshops will be held at the Istituto Comprensivo (comprehensive school) of Sarezzo and the Istituto Comprensivo of Orzinuovi, which will focus on the contents of the ActionAid programmes “Kids”, “Fiabe e Denaro” (Fables and money) and “Io mangio tutto” (I eat everything), organised by the foundation for financial education and UBI Banco di Brescia.
16th MARCH - Banca Carime hosts an event of the 2015 Festival of creative culture
Friday 20th March, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. the Carime central branch in Via Calefati in Bari will act as host to approximately 20 children aged between 6 and 13 attending a workshop of listening, directing and acting under the guide of theatre professionals. The event forms part of the “Festival of creative culture” programme for very young children organised by Italian banks and co-ordinated by the Italian Banking Association.
16th MARCH - Banco di Brescia organises a financial education meeting
On the morning of Monday 23rd March 2015 two meetings will be held at the UBI Banca Faissola Hall from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. to provide economic and financial education for lower and upper secondary schools. The Foundation for financial education and savings and ActionAid will focus their initiatives on subjects centred on sustainable development and sustainable economy.

Banca Popolare Commercio e Industria in co-operation with Fidicomet (Confcommercio Milan) - Asconfidi Lombardy (a shopkeepers’ trade association guaranteed body) have approved a credit line of €10 million made immediately available for shopkeepers in Milan and those hit hardest by the recent floods.

Banca Popolare di Bergamo and Apa Confartigianato (the artisans’ association) have reached an agreement to offer member businesses a medium-term loan for a minimum of €25 thousand up to a maximum of €500 thousand for investments in tangible and intangible assets, consulting services, certifications and personal training.
21ST JULY 2014 - Donation of Banca Carime’s book collection
On 17th July 2014, the Chairman of Banca Carime, Prof. Avv. Andrea Pisani Massamormile signed a deed to donate Banca Carime’s entire collection books to the Premio Sila ’49 Foundation. The collection consists of over 10,000 volumes and periodicals.
25TH JUNE 2014 – BpB makes a free loan of the painting “Pope John XXIII”
Banca Popolare di Bergamo has made a free loan for 10 years to the Pope John XXIII Hospital of the work of art the same name “Pope John XXIII” by the Chinese artist Yan Pei-Ming. The painting has been displayed in its own special space inside the hospital.
27TH MAY 2014 - Prize for the ideas of young entrepreneurs
Banca Carime and PattiChiari award prizes for the ideas of young entrepreneurs of Brindisi and Taranto. Class III G of the “Fermi-Monticelli” scientific high school won with the idea “RECOL Srl”: recovery and treatment of liquid industrial waste produced by boats to obtain industrial water, combustible oils and salt.
23RD MAY 2014 – Exhibition of the sculptor Tot
An exhibition will be held at 5:30 p.m. on 28th May at the central branch of Banca Carime at 100, via Calefati to celebrate the sculptor Amerigo Tot (1909-1984). The exhibition entitled “That damned Magyar” will be open during the normal opening hours of the branch until 28th June 2013.
21ST MAY 2014 - Scholarship grant for stay in the USA
The young teenager from Rimini, Asia Nanni age 16 at the “Giulio Cesare - Manara Valgimigli” linguistic high school of Rimini will study in America thanks to “Intercultura” and a scholarship grant offered by UBI Banca. The prize giving took place at the Romagna Area Management Headquarters of Banca Popolare di Ancona.
16TH MAY 2014 - An English course for children
Banca Popolare di Bergamo has financed an English course for nursery school children through its Saronno branch. The aim is to allow them to start to learn an ability that is highly prized in the world of work at an early age.

Ermanna Montanari receives the 2013 Eleonora Duse Prize. This prize has been sponsored and organised by Banca Popolare Commercio e Industria since 1986. It is the only Italian award granted annually to a theatre actress for distinction in the theatre season.

This “Bond del Territorio”, a €5 million bond issued by Banca Regionale Europea, was fully subscribed in a little more than a month and a €10 million loan pool will be available from 1st March 2013 to all members of the Cuneo Confartigianato (an artisans’ association).

Banca di Valle Camonica and the Bacino Imbrifero Montano of Valle Camonica (BIM Consortium) facilitate the grant of loans for “start-ups”. This bank is making a €5 million loan pool available for the grant of loans up to a maximum of €100 thousand for each firm.
5TH FEBRUARY 2013 – Scholarship grants
Banca Regionale Europea has awarded two scholarship grants for a total value of €65,000 as part of the “8th Gian Vittorio Cauvin Memorial“ in favour of scientific research in the Haematology 1 ward of the IRCCS AOU San Martino-IST hospital of Genoa for research into haematological neoplasms.
15TH JANUARY 2013 - Three short-term credit lines for Brescia firms
Banca di Valle Camonica and Banco di Brescia have presented three short-term credit lines today for member firms of UPA (Uninione Provinciale Agricoltori – provincial farmers union) to finance early payment of annual CAP contributions, the purchase and renewal of inventories and the construction of buildings.

Banco di Brescia is making a loan pool available to families and businesses hit by the earthquake and those in the province of Mantua in particular. The loans will have a term of between 24 and 60 months.

Yesterday evening, at the prize-giving ceremony of the MF Global awards, the General Manager of Banca Regionale Europea, Riccardo Barbarini, collected the “Creators of Value” prize. BRE won first place in the category as the bank with the best capital and efficiency performance in Piedmont.
